Photoshop Elements | RAW Power | Understanding Digital Photography | Take Better Digital Photos!

Online Digital Photography Courses Through the Irvine Fine Arts CenterDigital photography classes at the Irvine Fine Arts Center are now in their sixth year! Hundreds of students have already gone through Understanding Digital Photography.

Be sure to check out the newest of the digital photography classes being offered through the Fine Arts Center, Photoshop Elements. This class will be taught at the Lakeview Senior Center computer lab and will be limited to eleven students. So, sign up early as all classes are offered only once each quarter.

In the Fall of 2007, Mike Brock Photography and the Irvine Fine Arts Center will begin offering web-based training courses in digital photography.

 

Photoshop Elements

Professional photography instructor Mike Brock will teach you how to use Photoshop Elements, a software program for enhancing and editing your digital photographs. You will move quickly beyond automatic fixes and learn the power of enhancing and editing images using adjustment layers. The Photoshop Elements class meets at the Lakeview Senior Center computer lab.

All classes run Thursdays 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm for four weeks at the Lakeview Senior Center. Instruction is currently in Version 5.0 for Windows.

RAW Power!

Are you getting the most of your Digital SLR? If you're not shooting in the RAW file format, you may not be! Come to this six hour hands-on workshop and explore the power and possibilities of integrating RAW into your shooting and processing workflow. Topics include shooting, processing, and converting RAW files. Camera manufacture's software as well as third-party software applications will be shown and discussed. You're welcome to bring your personal laptop, Digital SLR, and/or RAW files on CD-ROM.

Sign-up early as this class will fill fast and be offered only once or twice a year. We recommend a sack lunch as the instructor's will be available during the lunch break.

Understanding Digital Photography

Learn the fundamentals of digital photography beginning with an overview of the process. Refine techniques for the capture, optimization, enhancement, and display of digital images. Equipment requirements and storage options will also be discussed. Assignments will be given and critiqued. Bring your digital camera and owner's manual to class.

Confused by all the information in your owner’s manual? Explore the potential of your digital camera in this hands-on workshop. Go beyond the automatic mode and turn your snapshots into great photographs. Participants will work with each other in specific camera make/model workgroups while the instructor devotes time for one-on-one instruction. This course expands upon what is taught in the Understanding Digital Photography course. Bring your digital camera and owner’s manual.

This is a six hour class that meets on Saturdays 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.  Shooting assignments in Heritage Park as well as critique of images will be included in the six hour workshop. For additional information on this course, please contact Bo Mulder at (714) 287-2557.
