It is thought that leopard sharks congregate in the shallows for mating. It is a common sight during the summer months to see schools of leopard sharks along the California coast and Channel Islands. This leopard shark was photographed in shallow murky water along the front side of Catalina Island near the Isthmus. Leopard sharks can reach lengths of up to six feet. The female leopard sharks are larger than the males.
